排灯节(Diwali Festival)，在印度、尼泊尔是非常重要的全国性节日，庆祝“以光明驱走黑暗，以善良战胜邪恶”。这个节日对于印度教徒的意义，相当于圣诞节对于基督教徒的意义、农历新年对中国人的意义。
由于它的重要地位和隆重庆祝仪式，很多对印度稍有了解的“外人”甚至将其误认为是印度新年。
排灯节在全球范围内的接受度很高，除了印度和尼泊尔，全世界还有很多国家如斐济、新加坡、马来西亚，以及有大量印度人聚居的地方如加拿大、美国、英国、南非以及新西兰都会庆祝排灯节。
2022年的排灯节日期是从10月24日开始。排灯节持续5天，其中第三天是节日的高潮，烟火和各种节日的灯，会照亮黑暗的夜晚。
排灯节的寓意对于从事商贸的人来说尤其重要，因为这个节日是在祈求财富之神(拉克什米Lakshmi) 的祝福。她是印度象征财富与繁荣的女神。
印度人相信财富之神是在排灯节期间，在翻腾的海洋中诞生的，而在排灯节这五天，她会带着繁荣与财富挨家挨户造访。
据说她会先从最干净的家庭开始。因此人们在点灯邀请女神进门前，都会打扫保持家中清洁，部分印度家庭会在家供奉小尊的女神像。
排灯节前夜，印度人会把家里和公司里彻底打扫一遍。洗衣服、收拾房间、整理好所有文件，差不多有点春节前大扫除的意思。然后，他们会用传统的蓝果丽（Rangoli）样式的图案把家里和公司走廊装饰一番，比如铃铛、花环、壁挂、镜子、LED灯，这是在为财富之神的到来营造欢乐的氛围。
排灯节的第一天，印度人习惯上街买些餐具、装饰品。节日期间，随便走进印度的一家商店，都能看到各式各样的彩灯。（基本都是中国制造）
而在节日期间的傍晚，家家户户都会在屋子周围点上小煤油灯（diyas)， 有时还要再点上一些蜡烛。这些灯光象征知识和一个人内心的光明，能驱走所有的蒙昧和黑暗，给人带来心灵深处的宁静。
寺庙则更热闹，只要有印度教的庙宇都会大排长龙，印度教的善男信女们都会来点灯祈福，交换礼物。
排灯节的第三天则是节日的最高潮，将会有盛大的烟火表演，妇女们一般都要穿上一种叫做sari的印度传统裙装，男人们则穿着民族风格的kurthas。
此外，为了祈求财富之神Lakshmi的护佑，这一天还会举行“Lakshmi pooja”仪式，仪式程序相当复杂，感兴趣的朋友可以搜索来看看。
排灯节的最后一天则留给兄弟姐妹，重视家庭的印度人为彼此间血浓于水的羁绊感到骄傲，他们习惯给手足们做顿饭，准备一份礼物，并彼此祝愿长命百岁。
